Cookie Policy
In short. We set only the cookies needed to make the site and the application work. We set nothing for advertising, and nothing that tracks you across other websites. Anything beyond the strictly necessary is set only if you agree, and you can change your mind at any time.
1. What a cookie is
1.1 A cookie is a small file a website stores on your device. Similar technologies — local storage, session storage, and the service worker the mobile app uses — do a comparable job, and this policy covers those too.
1.2 The law that applies is the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003. It requires your consent before anything is stored on your device unless it is strictly necessary to provide a service you asked for.
2. Strictly necessary — set without asking
2.1 These make the site and the application work. Without them you could not sign in, and forms would be open to cross-site request forgery. They are exempt from the consent requirement, so we do not ask.
| Name | What it does | How long |
|---|---|---|
csrftoken |
Protects forms against cross-site request forgery. | 1 year |
sessionid |
Keeps you signed in to the Django admin, where used. | Session |
wv_access, wv_refresh |
Local storage. Keeps you signed in to the admin panel and the mobile app so you are not asked for a password on every screen. | Until you sign out |
wv_user, wv_facility |
Local storage. Your name, role and chosen site, so the navigation can draw immediately rather than waiting for the network. | Until you sign out |
wv-nav-collapsed, wv-notification-sound |
Local storage. Remembers whether you collapsed the sidebar and whether you turned the alert sound off. | Until you clear it |
wv_cookie_choice |
Records the choice you made in the cookie banner, so we do not ask again. | 6 months |
| Service worker cache | Stores the mobile app's files so it opens quickly and tolerates a poor signal. | Until the app updates |
3. Optional — only if you agree
3.1 At present we set none. We do not currently run analytics, advertising or tracking on this website.
3.2 If that changes we will list what we set here, and ask before setting it. Anything in this category stays off unless you say yes.
3.3 The tutorials page embeds video. We use YouTube's
youtube-nocookie.com domain and create the player only when
you press play, so no YouTube cookie is set unless you choose to watch.
When you do, YouTube may set its own cookies under its own policy.
4. Changing your mind
4.1 Use the button below to reopen the cookie banner and change your choice.
4.2 You can also delete cookies in your browser settings. Deleting the strictly necessary ones will sign you out and may stop parts of the application working, which is what "strictly necessary" means.
5. Third parties
5.1 We do not permit third-party advertising or tracking on this site.
5.2 The only third-party content is the tutorial video described in 3.3, and it loads only on your click.
6. Changes
6.1 If we begin using a category of cookie we do not use today, we will update this policy and ask for consent again before setting anything new.
